We head towards Orgosolo with our four-wheel drive vehicles. Now the borough, known in the past for banditry, is one of the most important towns in Barbagia for its culture, the richness of its traditions, the famous murals and the natural heritage.

Our driver-guided 4×4 tour to Orgosolo starts with a visit to the historic center. Here, more than 200 murals of every theme, shape and size, attract tourists from all over the world. Orgosolo is also very famous for the colors of its traditional costume, adorned by a particular yellow silk thread obtained from the local silkworm breeding.

The panoramic excursion in Supramonte

After the tour to the historic center of Orgosolo we will reach the mountains of Supramonte, crossing the green pastures of Pratobello. With a short and easy trek we will walk to the top of Mount Novo San Giovanni (1316 m). Undisputed reign of the griffon vulture in the past, today this place is the natural habitat of the wild cat, the golden eagle and the peregrine falcon.

The typical lunch at the shepherd’s hut

Our excursion in Barbagia continues with the lunch at the ancient sheepfold. Here, surrounded by a wood of centuries-old holm oaks, we will taste typical products in an enchanting natural location.

All the food is produced by the shepherd and his family. We will have the opportunity to taste some typical dishes of the pastoral tradition: boiled sheep, roast suckling pig (su porcheddu), and an unforgettable pecorino (typical Sardinian cheese). To drink: the famous Cannonau wine and the Sardinian grappa, called filu ‘e ferru.
